Here are the top stories in Denver today:

  1. Cleo Parker Robinson Dance announces plan to expand. With the commencement of the capital campaign, the visionary Cleo Parker Robinson Center for the Healing Arts is set to materialize. While the final touches are being put on the architectural blueprints, the center is destined to encompass a state-of-the-art theater, expansive rehearsal and classroom areas, a welcoming reception zone, and comprehensive accessibility measures in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). (CBS4)
  2. Unlicensed landlords are getting hit by the city, despite low numbers of units being registered. Forty-six apartment property owners in the city have been issued $150 administrative citations for violating the Healthy Residential Rentals for All law, which came into effect in January. The Denver City Council passed the regulation two years ago, and the city’s Excise and License department is charged with chasing down property owners that continue to disregard the law, and could face a $500 fine, followed by a $999 fine. (Gazette)
  3. Former Johnson & Wales campus being transformed into an affordable housing community. Archway Communities broke ground on an affordable housing project at Denver’s Mosaic Community Campus. Renovations have begun on four historic dormitory buildings acquired from Urban Land Conservancy. (Mile High CRE)
  4. Denver one of the top 10 cities that people want to leave. According to Redfin, people are increasingly searching to leave Colorado and Denver rather than relocating there. Denver has consistently ranked among the top 10 areas people are looking to move away from, as per Redfin’s report. (FOX31)
  5. Shortage of air traffic controllers could delay take-offs and landings this summer at DIA. This past Sunday morning air traffic was ground to a halt due to an air traffic controller shortage, according to the FAA. Passengers had flights canceled, and more delays are predicted as the summer travel season kicks off. (KDVR)
