“Preliminary investigation suggests the victim and a male adult suspect were engaged in a verbal dispute which escalated when the suspect shot the victim,” LBPD said in a statement.
Officers were not able to locate the suspect because they fled on foot before LBPD arrived, according to LBPD. No additional information about the suspect was available.
Due to the ongoing investigation, westbound Willow Street at Long Beach Boulevard is closed to traffic and eastbound traffic on Willow Street is limited. There was no timeline provided for when the road closures would be lifted.
