A train derailment at about 10:50 a.m. Monday blocked all lanes of traffic on Amarillo Boulevard East for hours and also took down at least one power line.

According to the Amarillo Police Department, Amarillo officers were sent Monday to the 3300 block of Amarillo Boulevard East on reports of a train derailed. The train crossed the entirety of the road and blocked all lanes of traffic. It was discovered that power lines were also impacted, and Xcel Energy was notified and had crews working on repairs. Citizens were asked to avoid the boulevard between Grand and Manhattan until the train was cleared, with police directing traffic in the area.
