A 42-year-old convicted felon was arrested in Ocala after a loaded shotgun, methamphetamine, and fentanyl were found inside his vehicle during a traffic stop.

On Monday, May 22, an Ocala Police Department officer arrived at the scene of a traffic stop to assist two K-9 officers who had stopped a 2000 Ford Ranger. According to the arrest report, a search of the vehicle’s tag revealed that the registered owner had a felony warrant out of Kansas.

The officer made contact with the driver and sole occupant of the Ford Ranger, identified as Bradley Thom Booher. The OPD report stated that Booher was not the registered owner of the vehicle.

Booher handed the officer his Florida identification card. The officer noted in the report that Booher did not possess a valid driver’s license, and it was also discovered that he had a warrant out of Citrus County for a violation of probation.

While Booher was exiting the vehicle, a 12-gauge shotgun was observed next to his left leg, between the door and the seat. The firearm contained three rounds, including one round in the chamber, according to the OPD report.

A search of the vehicle was conducted, and a gray sock was observed with an orange syringe sticking out of it. The OPD report stated that the sock was on the passenger side floorboard, and it was propped up and leaning towards the driver’s seat “within arms reach of Booher.”

Inside the sock, the officer located a syringe that was filled with a dark colored substance that field-tested positive for fentanyl. Also inside the sock was a box of cigarettes containing a “folded up” piece of paper. In the center of the paper was a crystal-like substance that field-tested positive for methamphetamine, according to the OPD report.

A criminal history search of Booher revealed that he has a prior felony conviction in Green County, Missouri for possession of a controlled substance in 2011.

Booher was arrested and transported to Marion County Jail where he is currently being held on $12,000 bond. He is facing felony charges for possession of a controlled substance without a prescription (two counts), possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

In addition, Booher is facing a misdemeanor charge for driving with a suspended or revoked license.

A court date has been scheduled at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, June 27, according to jail records.
