PREBLE COUNTY — An intersection improvement project will restrict a major intersection in Preble County, starting this week.

On Wednesday, March 29, contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation will start work on U.S. 127 North and South, between Bloomfield Street and South Street, according to their website.

Construction will take place from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

The project involves making some changes to U.S. 127. Specifically, they want to add left turn lanes, improve the traffic light at the intersection with W. Central Avenue, and change the places where cars can enter and exit W. Central Avenue.

Bloomfield Street will be closed at U.S. 127 to allow for the minor widening along the east side of U.S. 127 and curb construction onto W. Central Avenue.

Drivers will still be able to use U.S. 127 and W. Central Avenue, but they will be directed by flaggers to help maintain traffic flow.

The project was awarded to Barrett Paving Materials, Inc. for around $1.48 million, and they are expected to finish work by May 2024.
