Morganton Woman Arrested Following Traffic Stop, Reported Seizure Of Cocaine – WHKY



36-year-old Ashley Renee Johnson of Sunrise Lane in Morganton was arrested Sunday (May 14) by Morganton Public Safety Officers. She’s charged with felony possession of cocaine, along with misdemeanor counts of simple possession of schedule II and schedule IV controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Shortly after 1:30 a.m. Sunday an officer conducted a traffic stop on a red 2003 Honda Accord after the vehicle reportedly crossed the center line twice and followed another vehicle at an unsafe distance. The officer made contact with the driver, Ashley Renee Johnson.

According to reports, the officer seized .7 grams of cocaine, five dosage units of oxycodone hydrochloride, and one dosage unit apiece of clorazepate dipotassium and alprazolam.

According to the North Carolina Department Of Adult Correction Offender Public Information website, Johnson has multiple convictions in McDowell County dating back to 2010. The most recent felony conviction was in September, 2017 for obtaining property by false pretense.

Following Sunday’s arrest, Johnson was brought to the Burke County Jail under $10,000 secured bond. She was not listed as an inmate in Burke County as of earlier today (May 15). A District Court appearance was scheduled today.
