PennDOT providing Port Royal Speedway traffic control, flaggers

PORT ROYAL — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation alerted motorists that flaggers in the roadway will provide traffic control for two events at the Port Royal Speedway over Memorial Day weekend. PennDOT anticipates increased traffic at the intersection of Routes 35 and 333 on race days due to the ongoing bridge replacement project along Route 75 in Port Royal Borough, and flagging will help alleviate some of the congestion.

Flaggers will be at the intersection from 5 p.m. Saturday, May 27, to 1 a.m. Sunday, May 28, and again from 5 p.m. Sunday to 1 a.m. Monday, May 29.

PennDOT intends to provide traffic control for several events at the speedway throughout the summer. The dates are July 1, July 3, July 29, August 25 and August 26.

PennDOT also reminded pedestrians not to pass safety fencing, caution tape, or other barricades within the active work zone of the Port Royal bridge. Unauthorized people within the work zone will be escorted away.

As work progresses, PennDOT makes project information available on a dedicated web page, which includes detour mapping. Customers can find the Juniata/Mifflin project page by visiting www.PennDOT.pa.gov and clicking “Regional Offices.” Once on the Regional Offices page, click the number 2, choose Construction Projects/Roadwork, then the tile that says “Juniata/Mifflin.”
