Southbound Highway 101 traffic slowed by lane closure near La Conchita

Southbound drivers heading into Ventura County on Highway 101 were jammed midday Saturday by a lane closed for repairs.

One of two southbound lanes was apparently closed south of Mussel Shoals, according to the California Highway Patrol’s dispatch office in Ventura.

Lanes are split in the area for several miles south of the Seacliff interchange due to a major pavement project.

The right lane was closed Saturday as a construction team worked to fix potholes, according to the dispatch office. There was no immediate estimate as to how long the closure would last.

As of 1:20 p.m., southbound traffic was backed up past La Conchita and Rincon Point into Santa Barbara County, traffic maps showed.

The previous weekend, the same stretch backed up when mud closed the left lane of the split.
