Traffic being diverted from South Street in Pittsfield after crash involving a tractor trailer carrying gas

Pittsfield — Avoid South Street if you can, says the Pittsfield Police Department via social media.

Traffic is being diverted from South Street to Dan Fox Drive and South Mountain Road after a crash involving a tractor trailer unit carrying gas. Police reported no major injuries, but did say that “traffic may be tied up for a few hours pending the response of a hazmat cleanup.”

PPD advises drivers to find alternate routes for northbound and southbound travel.
