Truck hauling helicopter blocks traffic after getting stuck underneath overpass

DENHAM SPRINGS, La. (WAFB) – A truck hauling a helicopter attempting to travel underneath the overpass on S. Range Avenue in Denham Springs is causing traffic delays after it got stuck.

The accident happened before 8:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 22.

Sgt. Scott Sterling with the Denham Springs Police Department confirmed officers are responding to the scene. Louisiana State Police is also assisting.

Police confirmed the load was too tall and the helicopter engine hit the overpass.

One lane of travel is open for traffic on S. Range Avenue near I-12.

The La. Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) is also on the scene.
