Two-vehicle collision stalled traffic on Taos County’s horseshoe curve
Two vehicles navigating slick, snowy conditions early Saturday morning (March 18) on Taos County’s horseshoe curve collided head on, stalling traffic in both directions for about an hour and a half.
Taos County Undersheriff Jerry Hogrefe confirmed the accident. He said the vehicles were going slowly due to the icy conditions, but both drivers were transported to Holy Cross Medical Center.
“Due to the slick roads, the vehicle speeds were relatively slow. Have not heard of any serious injury, but both went to the hospital to be evaluated,” Hogrefe said.
The horseshoe curve, which is located several miles south of Ranchos de Taos, has been the site of many collisions and rollovers over the years.
Roads began to clear by early afternoon Saturday following heavy snowfall that began Thursday night, with about an inch of additional accumulation Saturday morning.
