Who Was Really Stuck in Traffic? Judge Won’t Certify Class After Bridgegate Scandal | New Jersey Law Journal

It’s no easy task to sort out who was stuck in traffic during the Bridgegate lane closure scandal of 2013, a federal judge in Newark, New Jersey, ruled as he declined to grant certification in a class action suit.

Membership of proposed classes of drivers and passengers in vehicles that were delayed in the politically motivated traffic jams around the George Washington Bridge is not ascertainable, U.S. District Judge Julien X. Neals said when he denied without prejudice the motion to certify the class.
